Re-Entry Rules (When You Miss the Initial Breakout)
- Pullback to broken basePrice breaks base → runs → pulls back to retest the base level → closes above → enter. This is the cleanest re-entry. SL below the base. Same logic as original trade.
- Mini horizontal base during the trendDuring a strong trend, price often forms a tight 3–5 candle pause (mini base).Breakout of that mini base = trend continuation entry. SL below the mini base low.Your correct read: Low volume breakout = skip. ✓ New rule needed: Re-entry via A or B above.Cancelling was right. Missing the move is the cost — recoverable with a re-entry rule
Cancelling was the right call. You read the low-volume breakout correctly — “breakout volume rendah than previous candle” is a real red flag. Entering a base breakout on weak volume means the conviction isn’t there. That’s good analysis, not a mistake.
The pain here is what happened after — price rebounded, confirmed, and ran 350+ points (~$3,500 per contract). That’s a missed trade, not a bad trade decision. There’s a difference.
Why you missed the re-entry
You had no rule for it. Your system only covers the initial breakout. Once you cancel and price runs without you, there’s no protocol to get back in safely — so you watched.
The two re-entry rules to add (already in the chart above)
Option A — Pullback to the broken base. After a breakout, price often pulls back to retest the exact level it broke. When it touches 99.84 again and then closes back above it — that’s your second entry. Same setup, same logic, just delayed. This is the highest-probability re-entry.
Option B — Mini base during the trend. In a strong trending move like this one, price pauses every few minutes in a tight range. A 3–5 candle consolidation during the trend is itself a mini horizontal base. Breakout of that mini base = trend continuation entry. Your stop goes below the mini base low.
Volume filter — be careful how you apply it
Low volume on the initial candle is a valid skip signal. But don’t let it make you afraid of the move entirely. The confirmation for re-entry doesn’t need high volume at the source — it needs a clean retrace and a new close above structure. Trust that over the volume reading once the move has already started.
Updated rules summary for your system:
Re-entry Rule: If initial breakout is skipped or stopped out → wait for either (A) retest of the base with close above, or (B) mini base formation during trend with breakout above it. SL below the re-entry base in both cases.
